Test 1
I tried to run a rough test this week, the pace is too fast I think...maybe need more frames or need more time on the last frame of every action...

Animatic...
I changed the ending of the story slightly. Here is the animatic...
I quite like the texture of my drawings, so I will keep that.
I'll focus on the emotion of the cat, that change the background color to express it and use some moving type instead of voice over to make fun of it...

Visual references...
Actually, I was inspired by the animation of Gathering of Cats by Makoto.Shinkai.

I think the relationship between people and pet is kind of tricky sometimes. The pets are family in some circumstance but some times they are actually invisible to us. I would like to play with it and make it interactive.
I quite like the Dante's Inferno by Sean Meredith.

I think it demonstrate how the Adobe After Effects works, It based on the 2D animation but it use boards to set a scene that makes it have depth and looks 3D like. I can even see the sticks behind the character board.

About the theme...
About the theme:
Explore the relationship between people and subjects around us in daily life, for instance, pets and toys, etc.
Using some fun elements to make it interactive.
Using text to express the emotions.
Basically, my story is about a little girl, around 7 years old and her cat. It will divide into three parts, get the cat, good relationship with the cat and get rid of the cat.
I did the mind map about the story of the little girl and a cat:

New aim
My aim for the major negotiated Project:
-Produce a piece of 2D animation but use collage style to make some depth.
-Target the audience group as adults around 20 to 30 years old.
-Tell a simple story without dialogues, try to make the narrative easy to follow and engage the audiences.
-Use text, colors to express the emotions.
Learning outcomes:
-Research about the target audience group
-Research other existing animations which have already successfully engaged the audiences
-Research about how to make fun with the text and colors to express the certain emotions
-Establish the knowledge of the software (Adobe Flash, Adobe After Effects, etc.)

Dots test
The idea that make the soldiers and the enemies encountered as dots and passing by is quite nice, I think.
I did tests on the ways they are moving to make sure it will work.
The first one is just grouped and moving together, kind of stiff...
So I tried the second test. I divided them into several groups, about 20 random dots a group and make them move in different frequencies.
